Cuba 2020 - with Christine Chen & Will Schneider
Join us at Mhai Yoga, a beach town retreat center near Havana for experience that will change you forever.
Together, we'll enjoy yoga - called "green medicine" in Cuba - and organic meals sourced from a local farm. We'll engage in fully local activities (known as "interactions") in our Support of the Cuban People, the 100% legal designation under which we will travel and enjoy this special place. We'll explore Havana day and night plus get a peek at neighborhoods and artistry not normally seen by Americans. We will learn Cuban cooking, salsa, music, entrepreneurship, and mojito-making. And, we will practice with Eduardo Pimentel, the "godfather" of Cuban yoga (pictured) and his local students.

Cuba's mosaic village of art
kama sutra of organics
In the west end of Havana, we'll tour grand, old mansions in Miramar which were handed over by Fidel Castro. Then, we'll head to a fishing village made entirely of mosaic tiles in an homage to Gaudi before having lunch at a paladar (local home converted into a restaurant).

Prior to the retreat we will send out an email with all the information you will need. Below are some answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
LEGALLY ENTERING TO CUBA
We are travelling to Cuba with a General License in the ‘Support for the Cuban People’ category. This is a fully clear and legal way to travel despite perceptions created by recent news of travel restrictions under the 'People to People" category banning cruise ships. Our itinerary is crafted to comply fully, with three interactions per day with Cuban people, immersing ourselves in local culture and customs. This is an absolutely amazing learning opportunity! Some of these activities will cost a little extra.
Before May 2, we will email you with documentation to present at U.S. Customs to reenter and prove your travel was legal, should you be asked to provide it. We recommend you print and bring it with you in addition to having it electronically.
Purchase a Cuban Tourist Card 1) at the airport location where you will depart for Cuba (e.g. JFK, MIA), however, if you have a tight connection this could be stressful; 2) through your airline at a higher cost in advance. Typical cost: $30-80. Many options and variables, so read this and determine which option works for you.
If you are an American citizen, arrive with the cash you will need for the trip as you are currently UNABLE to withdraw money with American credit or debit cards. You can use USD or Euros to pay for activities at our Mhai Yoga Retreat Center, however, outside of Mhai you will need to pay with CUC. There is a fee for exchanging in Cuba, so decide when and how much you will exchange. You will need CUC to facilitate any transactions off-site.
